For grown-ups

What is inside each Jaziba story, and how to share it with your little one.

What every episode includes

  • A short film of about three minutes. The words of the book appear on screen and stay long enough to read together.
  • A picture book of sixteen pages, one picture and one or two short sentences per page. Read it here or download the eBook as a PDF, plus a high-resolution version for printing at home.
  • A picture puzzle made from the book’s pages (coming soon).
  • An audiobook of the story read aloud, with pauses between pages (coming soon).

How each story works

Every story follows the same gentle shape, so children learn to expect it:

  1. Meet Jaziba and what she has.
  2. A small test comes along.
  3. She hesitates. We hear what she is thinking, in her own words.
  4. She chooses well, even when nobody is watching.
  5. A quiet reward, often one the reader spots before she does.
  6. One closing line to remember. It is the only time the story gives a lesson.

Talking about it together

  • Pause on the page where Jaziba hesitates. Ask: what do you think she will do?
  • After the story: what did Jaziba choose? What would you have done?
  • Look back through the pictures for the reward hiding before Jaziba sees it.
  • Say the last line together. Can you think of a time it was true for you?
